Up to My Armpits: Adventures of a West Texas Veterinarian

Dr. Charles Edwards was born near Sanderson, Texas, and spent his life in the Texas-Mexican borderlands area of West Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1949 with a degree in veterinary medicine, and began his practice that year in Marfa, Texas. His work continued for more than fifty years, and ranged from the Pecos River to the Rio Grande and north as far as New Mexico. Dr. Edwards was inducted into the Big Bend Cowboy Hall of Fame, was selected as a member of the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, and was recognized by the Texas Veterinary Medical Association as the Diagnostician of the Year (1985) and the General Practitioner of the Year (1997). Doc Edwards was also honored as a Distinguished Alumnus of Texas A&M University (2004). 

Beloved by family and a host of friends, Doc passed away in February 2006.
