Terlingua Teacher, The Remarkable Lessons Taught and Learned in a One-room Texas Schoolhouse When Trent and Olga Jones left Terlingua, they moved to Alpine, enrolled in Sul Ross State University, and obtained their masters degrees. They thought that with masters in hand they might seek more adventure in another remote place Alaska. Instead, they settled in Boerne in the hill country of central Texas for a time, where Trent taught 7th and 8th grade and Olga started a career in real estate sales. When Olga began to do well selling real estate, Trent joined her in the business and the two made more in their first year than he had in two teaching school. In a short time they owned their home and three rental properties. A few years later, they moved to Los Angeles. Their entree to California was a little rocky and the Jones were down to their last $500 before they sold their first property there but their fortunes took off after that first sale and since then both have enjoyed enviable success. When their daughters graduated from college, Trent and Olga bought an RV and toured the back roads of America for two years. Anna has since become a Doctor of Physical Therapy (University of Southern California), and Cassandra has received a Masters of Fine Arts (Carnegie Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh). Afterward they settled in Ojai, California where, according to Jones, they're surrounded by "blue skies, mountains, and the Los Padres National Forest." Being back in a small community was always their goal. In Ojai, Jones operates his own real estate company and Olga is a financial planner. |
